a. Regime-held TerritoryTwo regime elements were killed in an internal fighting between a local militia and one security forces in the city of Dara in the south of Syria on Thursday night. The regime’s army intervened to contaminate the incident.In Sweda, also in the south of Syria, notables from the city of Shahba accused the Assad regime of sponsoring local “terrorist groups” inside the city in order to spread chaos and drugs and to be able -in a later stage- to put its control over the city. The city witnessed last week bloody confrontations between local population and members of a local militia supported by the regime.On the other hand, the command of the Iranian militias in the Abukamal area in Deir Ezzor launched an investigation on the killing two of its members in an attack last week. The investigation comes amid rumors that the regime forces were behind the attack.
b. HTS-held Northwest Syria (Idlib, northern Hama, Northern Latakia, western Aleppo)
Turkish forces in Idlib targeted the regime’s positions in the city of Ma’arat Al Nu’aman in southern Idlib with heavy artillery. Turkish-backed rebel forces on their part fired Grad missiles on the regime’s positions across the frontline in southern Idlib. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
On the other hand, for the second day in row, Russian warplanes conducted air strikes in the vicinity of the Turkish military outpost in the village of the Al Bara in Jabal Al Zawya mountain. There were no reports of casualties.
c. Turkish Influence Territory (Afrin, Azaz, Al Bab, Jarablus, Tal Abyad, Ras Al Ayn)
A Kurdish militia that calls itself “Afrin Liberation Forces’’ announced in a statement reported by Hawar News Agency the killing of 12 members of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army forces in Afrin and Azaz in separate operations conducted between July 16 and 19. There was no comment from the opposition on this report.
d. SDF-held Northeast Syria (Most of Raqqa and Hasaka, part of Deir Ezzor, parts of Aleppo: Manbij, Ayn Al Arab\Kobani, Tal Rifa’at.)
One Iraqi woman was found killed in the SDF-run Al Hol IDP camp in rural Hasaka. The SOHR accused ISIS sleeper cells in the camp of assasinating the woman in addition to two other Iraqi men during the month of July.
e. ISIS Update
ISIS sleeper cells attacked a regime positions near Maskana in eastern Aleppo. Five regime elements were reported killed or wounded. One hour after this attack, ISIS fired mortars on a position for the Iranian militias in the same area. There were no reports of casualties on the Iranian position.
In Deir Ezzor, ISIS claimed the assassination of one SDF commander by a silencer in the village of Abu Hamam in the east of Deir Ezzor.
